  1. Does my policy have an encashment or surrender value?
"To keep the premiums low, the policy provides risk cover only and does not have any investment components. No encashment or surrender values are therefore applicable."
  2. "If I have a pre-existing condition will the policy cover me?"
"The policy will not cover you if you were previously diagnosed with cancer, irrespective of the current status of the cancer or the number of years in remission. Any other pre-existing condition is excluded for a period of 12 months from the commencement date of the policy."
  3. What is a pre-existing condition?
"A pre-existing condition is any disease, illness or condition that was diagnosed or where you were receiving treatment or medication for, or which you could have reasonably known about, when you took out the policy."
  4. Can I add my spouse and my children onto the policy?
"Your biological or legally adopted children under the age of 21 have cover for R5000 for certain cancer conditions. If you have the Whole of Life plan, then your biological and legally adopted children and your nominated spouse are covered for the funeral benefit. Please refer to your policy document and schedule for the full description of the benefits and for confirmation of who is covered under your policy. If cancer cover or additional funeral cover is required for your spouse, then he/she may apply for a policy of his/her own, as long as he/she has never previously been diagnosed with cancer. Contact us on 0860-00-2156 and we will gladly assist you to obtain the required cover for your spouse."
  5. Is there a waiting period?
"To maintain affordable premiums, there is a waiting period of 3 months for the cancer benefits. The funeral benefits are payable immediately for accidental death as long as the first premium has been received by us, 6 months for any natural causes other than pre-existing conditions and 12 months for any pre-existing conditions."
  6. Who is covered under my policy?
"There are 2 cancer plans available. The standard option covers you for all the benefits and includes cover for your biological and legally adopted children up to the age of 21 for specific cancer conditions. The Whole of Life plan covers you for all the benefits, your biological and legally adopted children under the age of 21 for specific cancer conditions and your nominated spouse and children for the funeral benefit. Please refer to your policy document and schedule for the full description of the benefits and for confirmation of who is covered under your policy."
